Anyone go to Waterfront Records in Sydney? Black Velvet Zine is on sale there and you can currently get a lot of the back issues for only $2.

Check out: http://www.waterfrontrecords.com/releases/releases.asp?Action=DisplayArtist&ArtistID=12116

Black Velvet features a lot of pop punk and rock. Bands such as Paramore, Madina Lake, Billy Talent, Simple Plan, Good Charlotte, The Audition, Less Than Jake, Sugarcult, Finch and more have graced the front cover.

Issue 58 will be out soon (and in Waterfront) and include Goldfinger, Anti-Flag, All Time Low, Scars On Broadway, Boys Like Girls and more.

The current issue is issue 57:

I am closing down Deadset Music. I've been doing it long enough, and it's taking up too much of my time. As those who know me know I have a young family and have settled down a lot over the last few years. There are other things I want to do with my life, but in order to do those things I need more time, so I am spring cleaning and claiming back as much time and energy for myself as I can. So that means Deadset is going. It's time for me to be selfish!

It'll be sad to see it go, I have enjoyed it over the years and have put a fuck load of time and energy into it, met a lot of really awesome people and had a lot of fun.

The plan is to have a 'closing down' sale and sell as much stuff as I can. I haven't put a time limit on it yet, it'll take as long as it takes. A lot of stuff is already on special, and more will be marked down over the next few weeks.

If there is anyone who would be interested in taking Deadset Music over and buying the business, just drop me a message and we can talk about it.

aussieskins isn't going anywhere though. I might even do a major upgrade of it in the future when I get some of that time back. But I promise I won't be deleteing any forums or anything though! Deadset paid for the hosting for this site though, so I might add a 'pay pal' donate button, but we'll see what happens.

Thanks guys

Genesis 3:1-15 Topics for Discussion
(5 points per right answer)

1. Melville’s ‘Moby Dick’ begins, “Call me Ishmael”. We say it is told in first person. In what person is Genesis told? From whose viewpoint?

2. Who is the ‘good guy’ in this story? Who is the ‘bad guy’? Can you make a strong case for the reversal of roles?

3. Traditionally, the apple is considered to be the fruit the serpent offered to Eve. But apples are not endemic to the Near East. Select one of thefollowing, more logical substitutes, and discuss how myths come in to being and are corrupted over long periods of time: olive, fig, date, pomegranate.

4. Why is the word LORD always in capitals and the name God always capitalised? Shouldn’t the serpent’s name be capitalised as well? If no, why?

5. If God created everything (see Genesis, Chapter 1) why did he create problems for himself by creating a serpent who would lead his creations astray? Why did God create a tree he did not want Adam and Eve to know about, and then go out of his way to warn them about it?

6. Compare and contrast Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel ceiling panel of the ‘Expulsion from Paradise’ with Bosch’s ‘Garden of Earthly Delights’.

7. Was Adam being a gentleman when he placed blame on Eve? Who was ‘Quisling’? Discuss ‘narking’ as a character flaw.

8. God grew angry when he found out he had been defied. If God is omnipotent and omniscient, didn’t he know? Why couldn’t he find Adam and Eve when they hid?

9. If God had not wanted Adam and Eve to taste the fruit of the forbidden tree, why didn’t he warn the serpent? Could God have prevented the serpent from tempting Adam and Eve? If yes, why didn’t he? If no, discuss the possibility the serpent was as powerful as God.

10. Using examples from two different media journals, demonstrate the concept of ‘slanted news’.

So I am visiting Sydney for about 3 weeks in January. I am pretty much looking for people to hang out with, awesome vegan restaurants to eat at and fun metal/hardcore shows to go to. I am going with family, so I assume my evenings will be pretty lame after the first few days. Haha.

Feel free to add me to myspace: www.myspace.com/erikarulesyourlife

Any help with fun stuff to do would be great! Thanks guys! <3
